Muster Drill

Thaks in advance everyone for their help.

Had ankle fusion six months ago, and will have both knees ond one hip replaced next year, first time cruising with mobility an issue, can walk without assistance but standing for more than 15 to 20 minutes is very uncomfortable if not impossible. How do I handle the muster drill? I can figure out all other aspects of the cruise but this one that is mandatory.

It depends on the cruise line and ship. Some ships have muster drills inside lounges, theaters, or other venues.  Others require able-bodied to go out on deck near the lifeboats. My experience has been on Royal Caribbean ships. Since I have a scooter, those in charge of the muster drill direct me where to go.

 

Your best bet is to contact guest services upon boarding and explain your situation. They will most likely tell you to go to the location reserved for those with mobility and other challenges, and you will be able to sit for the duration of the drill.

VERY SIMPLE, you will know almost right away where and at what time the muster will be. Wife as similar issue, so we show up 15-25 minutes early with a book or whatever. Pick a comfortable place to sit and wait.

Which line and ship are you sailing on? More info gets you a better answer. Others have been there before.

Sorry thought I gave enough information  (famous last words). We are sailing on the Carnival Valor May 4th out of Galveston Texas.

Carnival is easy. When you check in at the muster drill, just tell that person you need a chair due to some medical issues. They will get you a seat asap.
