Question about transfers with free air

We are on the Escape in Nov, and we have free airfare to NY. They charged us $70 each for transfers from the airport to the ship, and back to the airport after the cruise. Would it be better for us to just call an Uber to take us to the ship? We have never flown for a cruise before, we always drive, but since the airfare was free we took that. We just don't have any experience with the ship's shuttles and we don't know how much of a hassle it is to use them vs. an Uber.  I'm not sure what airport they will be flying us into, Newark, JFK, or LGA?  Also, if we cancel the shuttle, is it hard to get an Uber after the cruise to take us back to the airport? There will only be the 2 of us, both adults.

This is presuming a same day air arrival and cruise departure.

With the transfers upon the flight arrival at the airport you claim your luggage and take it to the point where

NCL has an agent and a waiting motor coach or shuttle bus that takes you directly to your cruise ship.

Remove the airline tags replacing with the NCL stateroom tags giving the bags to the bus driver who will

load them on the bus.

2 scenarios here at the cruise terminal the bus driver gives your luggage back to take to a porter to load on

the ship or the bus driver simply gives the luggage to the porter (tips most certainly appreciated). Make

sure in either event that your luggage has those stateroom tags

 

Another case is arriving a day early or more at the cruise city -

staying at a hotel near or far returning back to the airport the day of the cruise -

locating that NCL agent and the bus and away you go.

 

In disembarking you place your luggage outside your cabin door the night before and after leaving the ship

follow the directions to claim it and give it to the transfer bus driver who will load it on his bus and take you

to the airport - you retrieve your luggage and then take it to the airline counter for check-in.

 

You could easily substitute Uber Lyft or other shuttle cab taxi service AT EXTRA COST since you have already

been given free air and paid for the transfer service.

If you are attempting mission impossible catching a really early flight DO NOT use the transfer service -

it is not set up for situations like this and NCL would not set it up that way.

If you do elect to cancel the transfer shuttle service paid to NCL -

there will be no refund and it would be a courtesy to NCL to advise them so.

Your departure airport back home could determine what is the best service to use - all three airports JFK/LGA/EWR

have unique ground transportation situations.
