Is there any places to walk to from the cruise ship dock in the evening as we are docked overnight and would like to experience some night life nearby.

Not really...its pretty industrial. This map https://goo.gl/maps/kkkoSX8fsi92       shows where the cruise ships dock. There were always loads of taxis about though. You can walk out of the area no problem, its just there is nothing very interesting nearby!

You could take a 10 minute taxi ride to Bryggjan Brugghus Bistro/Brewery - nice views overlooking the harbor, good local brews.
