sun16 Posted April 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2019 We are booking a shuttle from Fiumicoino airport to an airbnb near the civi port for our May 20th cruise. We looking at booking with airport-shuttle with 4 adults with luggage. We were quoted $115 Euro. Has anyone used this company and do you have comments or possibly have a shuttle/taxi service you recommend from the airport to the vicinity of the port. And any recommendations from the cruiseport to Rome for post cruise? Thinking of just taking the train. Comments? Appreciate it. Thanks!
Rare Hlitner Posted April 20, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2019 I will be honest (based on a lot of personal experience) and say that with 4 adults + luggage we would likely arrange a private transfer with Rome Cabs (they would charge around 150€). They will send a large enough car to handle 4 of us and the luggage with no hassles. A regular taxi will cost about 120€ but many taxis would be too tight for 4 adults plus luggage. As to using the train, it is a lower cost option but involves more time, a change of trains, and being able to handle your luggage for walking, on and off the trains, and possibly up and down some steps in a train station. And depending on how far your accommodations are from the train station you have to deal with that issue. As to Civitavecchia to Rome you have similar options. You can certainly take the regional train from Civitavecchia to Rome. There will be a free internal port shuttle bus (with luggage space underneath) from your pier to the transfer point at Largo della Pace. From there you buy a ticket (I think it might now be 2€) on another bus that will take you to the train station. There are plenty of regional trains and you can get off at whichever Rome train station is closest to your accommodations. But again, you have to handle your own luggage and also maintain security on your luggage. A decent private transfer company will charge about 150€ (total for 4) which gets you met by a private car/driver. Hank
