Booster seat recommendations

With our grade school children, we’ve often used the Bubblebum when traveling. It’s very lightweight and easy to pack. That said, it’s not that comfortable to sit on for longer car trips-- there’s a tendency for the child to slide off it onto the seat of the car. And we mainly use it to satisfy the booster seat laws. I have to admit that I don’t feel it really increases safety in a meaningful way (in part because of the sliding off issue), although it’s compliant with safety regulations. On trips where we expect to do a lot of driving in a rental car, we’ll rent a harder, heavier booster seat from the rental car company, but bring the Bubblebum in case they run out of booster seats, etc.

first of all, please check out Family Cruising board for such specific child related questions. This question has nothing do with the Norwegian cruise line.

second of all, how old, tall and heavy is the child? Do you already have a no-back booster for him/her that you can simply bring with you? this is how our booster travels with us:

It's a $13 Harmony Youth booster, but it doesn't have a good seat belt fit on tiny children, no matter what it claims.

We need a booster seat to travel from the port to the airport when we return.

it's unclear - what port will you be in? Where will you be returning from? is it a transatlantic cruise and that's why you only need a seat from port to the airport in the US?
