20% discount on shore excursions? Not.

So, we got a mailing from Celebrity a few days ago stating "20% off shore excursions" from 4/23 to 4/29 (no "up to" in the promo line).  We figured this would be an excellent time to book some shore excursions for our cruise coming up in September so we went online.  Hmmm.  Turns out it's not 20% off any and all shore excursions, just a few.  Others that are on sale are discounted 5%, 10%, or 15%.  Most shore excursions are not discounted at all.  In fact, the prices online barely resemble the prices in the shore excursion PDF that I downloaded 2 months ago.  A shore excursion to Ghent, Belgium, is $84 in Celebrity's PDF, but $129 (!!!!!!!!!!!!) online ... an almost 54% increase.  And, it's not part of the "sale."  The Bustronome tour to Paris is $239 in Celebrity's PDF but is now $254 ... after a 15% discount.  Such tactics are beginning to really annoy.

My email stated " up to 20%" and on "select" excursions. So I was not surprised at its limitations, its just marketing!

Ours had for select sailings between 5/1/19 and 10/31/19.  We have 2 cruises during that period and both had some shore excursions with discounts ranging from 5 - 20%.   Never have seen a discount offer that included all excursions just like with a store have a 30% of sale, not everything is on sale.

Don t bother trying to book this.  We did, however on cruise 2 days before were told this tour was cancelled without any good reason.  We figure it was because the price we paid beforehand with 25% off was half of the price for the tour as charged on the ship
