zitsky Posted May 2, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2019 Can anyone comment on what they did for exercise while on a Viking Egyptian cruise? On the newer ships there is no gym, no walking track. (There is a pool but probably not for lap swims.) Did you go running while the ship was docked? Was it safe?
didicruiser Posted May 5, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2019 I did a tour to Egypt including the Nile River cruise but not with Viking. I can comment though on the areas where the ships dock. The areas felt safe to me when I was at the ports during the day. However, Egyptians do not run along a street. You will really stand out as an oddity. Also, some areas were crowded and not sure how you could navigate around everyone enjoying their day along the River as well as vendors. You out didn't mention if you are male or female. Running attire for ladies definitely NOT appropriate in Egypt, even touristy places like Luxor and Aswan. All the men I remember seeing wear slacks and shirts, no atheletic wear. Hope this helps! zitsky Posted May 5, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted May 5, 2019 Thanks for that. Yes we would try to blend in as much as possible. And it depends on weather. Maybe it's too hot to run many days?
sawtooth Posted May 6, 2019 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2019 I think you may have to forego your running while on the Nile, just not practical. The hotels in Cairo have very nice gyms.
