Seaview 20-27 April quick review

A bit of background, we are a family of 5 from the UK with 3 boys aged 11,11 & 16.

We booked a YC stateroom on deck 18 as it was the only one left.

To start with we booked to go at the end of May about 20 months in advance,

due to the eldest boys exams we chose to move the cruise to April.

What we enjoyed

  • Quick simple check in
  • The stateroom was a good size with the boys taking turns on the pullman.
  • Lillian the butler was very good as was here assistant
  • The rest of the staff in the Yacht Club were brilliant.
  • The staff on the rest of the ship were great.
  • The Yacht Club pool and grill was in and of it's self was stunning.
  • The ports and the locals we met in these ports

What we did not like.

  • MSC UK customer service were nothing but a pain to deal with when we wanted to move the cruise to April.
  • Passengers of different nationalities determined to live up to British stereotypes of them. We have not had this problem in the Med on Royal, NCL and Celebrity.
  • The all inclusive digital photo package was a nightmare to sort out both onboard and even worse when dealing with customer service in the UK
  • UK customer services is so compartmentalized that the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.
  • Timings for use of the fun pass were very strange.
  • The music around the ship was inoffensive middle of the road type songs played very slowly. No up beat music until after 1130pm. We cruise for the ports as well as the ship so staying up past midnight is not something we like to do.
  • Kids Club, the kids normally love kids club but not this time. There was no get to know each other for the teens and the twins found it difficult to get past parents to check in. Being an interporting cruise this meant there was a continual turn over of kids making it difficult to them to get to know anyone.
  • Timings in general were an issue.
  • Movement of furniture early in the mornings on the deck above not MSC fault but would recommend not booking deck 18 cabins.

Overall

Overall we enjoyed the cruise but after talking as a family we have decided that MSC is just not for us.

thanks for the review - we are on deck 18 (that's what was left for us too even months ago - not too many rooms for 5) - when did you hear deck chairs?

Hi

we heard the chairs between 5&6 am for about 10 minutes

It woke me and the wife but the kids all slept through it.

We were in 18009, I would imagine the further back you are there will be less noise.

Can you explain the timing for use of fun pass please..we were planning to get one but didnt know about time restrictions..also is there a price list for all the fun pass activities?

Thx

The timings were strange, generally they were 4pm to 12pm  but changed based on when you were in port and staffing. I was told by one of the guys running it that the only sure way to know when it is open was to check the dailies. The same goes for the zipline.

F1 was 10 euros

4DX 9 euros for adults 7euros for kids

Bowling 30 euros for 30 mins or 45 euros for 45 mins for up to 6 people but be at the counter before it opens as the slots fill up fast

Zipline 10 euros

Other than 1 airhockey machine if you can get on it, 2 mario racing arcade games, a small hoops game and a non functional shooting game are all you can use the pass for.

There a couple of prize games there but these are not included in the fun pass.
