I did not find the staff as helpful as I have on other cruises. I did not want to call them out on their rudeness because they were trying, but they just didn't have the training that they needed. Passenger services were not rude, just not as helpful and not as cheerful as other ships. Really miss the Sommelier. Waiter and Asst. Waiter were not familiar with the "new wine list" and they were no help at all when I tried to order something for our table mates. Yes, the smoke from the Casino bothered me on both the casino deck and the deck above Totally agree about the Sommelier - or at least a dedicated wine steward. They still provide this on Celebrity as I understand. The position should pay for itself with increased wine sales. The waiters and asst. waiters, in our experience, don't know the wines or the list - and frankly, don't have the time to learn nor service the wine properly. Fortun8 Posted June 29, 2019 #27 Share Posted June 29, 2019 Thank you karatemom2 for your answer to my question. I have visited Alaska before on another line for our first time way back in the end of the 1990s. It was our first cruise and I don't remember a thing about it except Dolly's house and that there wasn't much to do without a tour of some kind. I will look for some water wicking slacks. I wanted to pack light and will be leaving temperatures of 90-100 degrees from home by August. Thanks again.
