Cruise to Tenerife - VAT free?

Have tried to find a definitive answer, but failed.

On Silhouette in September, Southampton round trip. Calls at Tenerife, so does a call in the Canaries mean this cruise can be considered VAT free please? Asking so I know if the prices in the on board shops will be even better than normal!

It's pre Oct 31st, so no need to mention the "B" word please.

Thanks in advance

Mark

The Canaries are not part of the EU for customs purposes. They have their own VAT if you purchase anything ashore, but it’s about 7% so combined with being duty free prices ashore are often cheaper than ‘duty free’ on board.
