clairemoore31 Posted May 30, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2019 Has anyone travelled with MSC with a young baby? We are thinking of booking for September but unsure of the facilities to make bottles and sterilising Also is cruising with a young baby a sensible idea?!? Thanks in advance 🙂
cabin4three Posted May 31, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 31, 2019 we haven't cruised with MSC but did do cruise with our children when they were tiny. We took our own travel cot and bedding, a LOT of nappies and whole ton of stuff! We took a fold up stroller, which folded up small for storage but also allowed our child to lie flat if needed. We also took a portable chair harness in case there wasnt high chairs available (there was always on available so we didnt need it). We took a seal-able plastic container (tupperware) and sterilising tablets (miltons) used that to sterilise everything. We chose a cruise within Europe (no flying) that had minimal sea days. We took pre-made baby formula in single use pouches so no worries about making up formula, at 7 months your baby will be being weaned. Take care when trying new foods, we discovered our eldest child had a food sensitivity on a cruise - medical facilities are not set up for very young children! cb at sea Posted June 2, 2019 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2019 You won't need to be "sterilizing" at 7 mos....most kids are crawling by then and have functioning immune systems! You will need to bring any and ALL baby specific items. Bring all the pediatric meds you MIGHT need, as none are available on the ship, and brands you might find in ports may not be what you use! You can use the disposable bottles if you don't want to wash bottles. If you do want to wash, bring some dish soap....and a bottle brush....that's perfectly fine to clean them. gymbomb Posted June 6, 2019 #4 Share Posted June 6, 2019 We have cruised with 9 and 10 month olds, and would have done it younger if scheduling had worked out. Much easier than toddlers. Certainly no need to sterilize things for a baby who is old enough to chew on the dog’s toys and the remote control! (I realize recommendations are different in different countries, but really I promise it is fine). We did take a travel drying rack, bottle brush, and small container of dish soap. Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted June 7, 2019 #5 Share Posted June 7, 2019 did I mention that we bring Lysol wipes and wipe down every surface that can be wiped? We've been doing it for years (DS is 8 yo now). We've gone through a couple of norovirus breakouts on cruises unscathed.
pettums Posted June 10, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 10, 2019 We did MSC cruises with a baby aged 4-months/ 6-months. I would bring a lot of sterilizing stuff as we didn't find things as clean as you might want. By this I mean lysol wipes for baby seats and tables. . We found that relative to NCL/DCL that they didn't really have a concept of baby food being served to you (though they had a mysterious menu of baby food which suggested there should have been).
