Formal Night Men's Attire

We are going on a cruise on MSC Seaview ship in August. Our Vocation is going to be for a three weeks.

We are flying from NY, so I luggage is restricted. For formal night a suit is required for men, but  jacket will take a lot of space.

If we will not bring the jacket, we will not be  allowed to go restaurant?

I will really appreciate, it someone who was on this ship and went for a formal night, let me know how it was!
