Trip Insurance When 3rd Person "Free"

There are three of us in a room and the third person was "free" (other than taxes). Looking at trip insurance, I need to buy within 21 days for cancel for work reasons because of my job, and I'm confused on what amount to put for each of us. Need to book things separately since one person lives in another state.  Should I divide by three? Want to make sure there is medical coverage just in case.

The reason why you put Trip Cost is so they know what to cover for cancellation. Since 3rd person is free, then there wouldn’t be any cancellation to cover.

However, you want medical.

Travel Insurance prices charge the same from $1 to $500. At $501, the insurance price increases. If I were in your shoes, I would list person 3 at a travel cost of $500. This way the get the medical coverage of whatever policy you are buying, but you would also have any coverages that are based on a % of Trip costs. Plus, the 3rd person would also have lost baggage and such coverages.
