Hi 

im due to finish cruise on the 8th sept 2019 my passport is out on the 7th march 2020 which is 1 day over the 6 month period ,,do i need to renew my passport or would i be ok

Where is the cruise from? to?    If it is a closed loop cruise originating in the US you should be fine.   If you are a US citizen and the cruise starts or ends in a foreign country I would get it renewed.

The 6 month rule for entry into the US does not apply to Irish Citizens, so no problem there, and most Caribbean countries treat you as in Transit so shouldn't be a problem there either

Check for each country that you will have a port stop in.   Not guaranteed, as they are a 3 rd party, but one of the few sources that clearly lists cruise exemptions.

 

The only definitive answer would be to contact the Embassy or Consulate of the countries you will be visiting.
