boxall Posted July 11, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 11, 2019 There on 24th and 25th of July. Should I pre-book? Any recommendations?
euro cruiser Posted July 11, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2019 No, there's no need ever to pre-book a gondola. Wander around until you find an area you'd like to take a ride and approach the stand there. Gondolas work on a fixed fare system. People are forever claiming they negotiated a better deal but that's highly unlikely unless they are negotiating for more time than the standard fare. Gondoliers generally stick to the fixed fare, they have enough business that they don't need to risk the fines that are imposed if they get caught dealing below the set fares.

chipmaster Posted July 11, 2019 #5 Share Posted July 11, 2019 (edited) Just to add another data point, we were there precruise two days ( third time to venice ) they have fixed feeds I think 80 E for day and 100 for nights and while at some locations people queue'd up at most one boat wait there was no shortage of gondolas, can't imaging more than a few minutes wait even for those seeking the ultimate tourist sunset. An interesting sight in the narrow canals falling light a continuous line of gondola's spaced sometimes less than 1 meter apart, how romantic ( we thought for sure we'd do gondola as this could the last time we visited every, and then said forget it ) Edited July 11, 2019 by chipmaster
