bencruzN Posted April 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2004 I don't undestand the different cabin categories and why is the pricing for the same cabin level different. For instance, I was looking at all the different web-sites recommended by the board checking out pricing. I would like a balcony. Well there seems to be several levels 8a-8D(D being the most) and a BL. The BL seems to be the least expensive, WHY. I don't get it. If I book should I just book the least expensive of the category I want. Could someone school me on this please. Which one do I want? Does any of this make sense? CruiseFever Posted April 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2004 BL is just "some" balcony, a guarantee that you'll get one but no guarantee where. This is a popular category for guests that want to play the upgrade game. The very least you'll get would be an 8A balcony, so go online and see where those are located at, say, travelocity.com. You might get upgraded though meaning you will get a more expensive balcony but not have to pay more. You may even hit the jackpot and get upgraded to a higher category altogether like a 9, 11 or (in your dreams) the ultimate category 12. The various flavors of "B" are determined mostly by location. Higher priced get the prime real estate (more mid-ship and on higher levels- believed to be better) Some are higher because they are "extended" meaning they have a bigger balcony. They're all about the same inside. SoccerMom#3 Posted April 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 17, 2004 From what I understand, the different levels (8A-8D) is based on the deck you are on and whether or not it is an extended balcony or not. The higher the deck, the more it costs. Extended balconies (which are a bit larger) cost more than regular balconies. 7/11 Pride Cruise
guidobiker Posted April 17, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2004 The number designates the type of cabin. So an 8 will be an oceanview with a balcony cabin. The letter after the number designates the deck that the cabin is on. The higher the deck, the more expensive it is. For example: 8A - oceanview with a balcony - Upper Deck 8B - oceanview with a balcony - Empress Deck 8C - oceanview with a balcony - Veranda Deck 8D - oceanview with a balcony - Lido Deck 8E - oceanview with a balcony - Panorama Deck The higher the letter, the higher the deck. glrounds Posted April 17, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2004 I'm almost embarrassed to observe, I only know the difference between a 1A and a 4A.
