Candado Hotel & Casino

Has anyone stayed at this hotel? Is it within walking distance of all of Old San Juan?

If you are referring to the Condado Hotel formerly owned by Wyndham hotels, No it is not in walking distance to Old San Juan. Most Condado (beach area) or Isle Verde hotels are a short taxi drive away from OSJ.

Many of the Condodo hotels are on or near the bus line and for 75 cents will drop you within a couple of blocks of Old San Juan. The buses are perfectly safe and comfortable but just make sure you have exact change. We rode for free once because we had a dollar bill and the driver would not change it but he still let us ride.

If you're referring to the Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino, it's ok (not as nice as say the El San Juan or the Hilton, but a lot better than some other hotels on the Condado) as long as you're in the building on the beach side. It's a distance from OSJ.

I did stay there 1 night & we checked out, moved to Old El San Juan. I did not like Condado area.

We stayed at the Wyndham Condado near the pier in '04 because we wanted to be at the beach. It was $20 cheaper than the one near the Old San Juan area, which is sort of crappy-looking IMO.

It was a very nice hotel. We had an ocean view room on the Executive floor (10) and had free appetizer buffet with a cash bar on Sat. night and a free breakfast buffet the next morning. We had time to relax in lounge chairs with a view of the sea and beach while waiting for the shuttle.
