Alcoves on embarkation day?

I have tried to search for this answer, but I have so much trouble with the new CC search function. Can you hire an alcove on embarkation day? They are not showing in my cruise planner and I’m just wondering if they are sold out or not available at all? I realise that you would not get a full day hire, but I thought it would be a good place for our group to have sail away from Sydney harbour. Has anyone successfully hired one on the very first day? TIA.
