Cabin location crossing the Tasman Sea

My husband and I are booked on a RSSC 14 nights from Auckland to Sydney. We have booked a Penthouse on the 14th deck. I suffer from seasickness and generally wear the patch which alleviates the symptoms. We generally select a cabin midship around the 9th deck but thought that we would try something different. I have subsequently heard that crossing the Tasman Sea can be very rough. We will be traveling in January. What have others found? What do you recommend?
