Canadian Scarlett Posted September 25, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2019 I'm thinking of booking a cruise on the Seaside for September 2020. I know Royal is great with compensating for shortened or cancelled cruises. Has anyone had any experience with MSC and changes due to hurricanes? Rare Essiesmom Posted September 25, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2019 (edited) You need to read back a few pages about the Seaside fiasco with Dorian. As for us, we were on the lengthened Armonia cruise. They did not refund port charges for missing Key West, but they also did not charge fees for the second visits to Costa Maya and Cozumel. They also did not charge gratuities for the extra two days. EM Edited September 25, 2019 by Essiesmom
Até Posted September 25, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 25, 2019 I think MSC did the best of any cruise line regarding Dorian. People on the August 24th Seaside that came back to Miami one day early but were allowed to stay on the ship until their normal departure on the next day got a 20% discount on any future cruise. People on the August 31st sailing were able to depart fairly normally and still got a decent cruise, I can't remember if the cancellation policies were also relaxed for that sailing. Those on the shortened Armonia cruise were able to cancel or got compensated accordingly. Didn't seem too bad a deal to me. Armonia's unpreventable delay back to Miami sure was a lot better than NCL dropping people off in New Orleans.
QueenofEverything Posted September 26, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 26, 2019 A couple of years ago we were supposed to sail on the Divina on an eastern caribbean cruise right after Irma hit. They changed the eastern to a western itinerary. They did not have to do anything because your ports are never guaranteed and the ship was able to sail. We were really surprised when they offered a full future cruise credit for anyone wanting to cancel due to the itinerary change. You had to use it within 2 years and it was for the dollar amount you had spent.
