Clamshells on Half Moon Cay

There are no umbrellas, only the clamshells.  The clamshells are not movable and are lined up along the last row of the loungers against the trees and bushes.  If you're on a HAL ship, I recommend you book online before you sail.  We were there last March and all the clamshells were reserved by the time we got there.

I thought I read that they were going to start offering "sun shelters" (or something like that) which were going to be like a light-weight three-sided tent, for a lesser price than clam shells. Or maybe replacing the clam shells. Anybody have info on that?

We were at HMC earlier this month and thought there were a lot of shady chairs, if you walk as far as the pirate ship bar.  In front of that building and in front of the cabanas past there, it was very pleasant.

However, that was with only 1 ship on the island.  I am sure that with 2 ships it would become much more crowded, which may be the norm once the new pier is built.

Rented a clamshell last week and loved it...no heat issues.  They were in high demand, so suggest you book advance of boarding.  Some people were very disappointed.  The attendant was great, set up our clamshell, clean sand off chairs.  If you are not renting a clamshell, bring a small towel to brush off chairs, the sand is very fine and clings to chairs.
