All depends on how much sleep you want to get. The late seating dinner show is not until 1030Pm and therefore with a running time of one hour -not out until 1130Pm. Do you have any 7 am ports ????

I really enjoy early seating, because even then after the show you can go to lounges and casino.

And also the midnight buffets are less appealing if you are not hungry.

Personally I like the late seating. It gives me more time in the ports, being up on deck during sail away from the islands. Early seating can take this away. You tend to find more families with kids and older folks at the early seating.

Carnival has very good shows on their ships. NCL may get the nod there but not by much.

We always pick the late seating dinner. If you choose early seating on the formal nights you will need to start getting dressed around 4:00pm pictures start at 5:00pm. We would be setting out by the pool and people would be walking by in formal clothes. On other days you don't feel rushed to come in an get ready for dinner. We are also late night people. If you have small children you might considered early dinner then the children can go to camp carnival and you can enjoy the shows.

Another thing you might want to consider is time changes. We had early seating in Jan. for our Eastern Caribbean cruise. By the second day, we were 2 hours behind. We were eating dinner at 4:30 Chicago time icon_eek.gif We also felt rushed to get dressed and get to dinner.

icon_eek.gif Really? Late seating 10:30?

I always do early seating at 6:15, but I thought late seating was around 8:30. Heck, I'd be starving to death if I didn't eat till 10:30! Is this for real?

Oh, you asked about shows? I think the shows are excellent on Carnival ships! I only go to the production shows, not the comedians, etc. Only bad thing is, I've seen the same two shows on my last three cruises. icon_wink.gif FYI, the early show is after early seating, and the late show after late seating.

We've booked the late seating so we can enjoy the shows etc just after dining. If I had the early seating there would be a psooibility I'd be asleep before the night gets hopping.

We've only done early seating once (and it wasn't by choice) and I HATED getting ready so early for formal nights! The cocktail party was at 5:00 -- way too early for me to be in pantyhose & heels on a cruise!

I like the 6:15 seating on the Glory...not too early, but early enough so we can do what we want the rest of the night. I hate going to bed with a full stomach. As for staying in formal clothes all night....after the dinner I am back in jeans!!

Hi,

We are on this cruise with you.

We picked the early seating...reason is I want to do something after dinner and with the late well its to late I'm tired. With early seating you know you will make it to the shows. they have an early seating show too. But I don't plan on doing any all day excurisons either. I plan to be back and rested before five....

I am going on the wetern itenary. I picked early seating (I have kids) but I switched to late last week.

I did this because with the ship leaving port at 5:00 at some ports and 7:00 at Costa Maya, we would miss out on some port time with early seating.

Also, my wife takes forever to get ready, if that makes a difference.

I have done both early and late- I prefer late.

The Glory is a beautiful ship. I'm sure you'll love her. When sailing with my children, I like early seating. But in October my husband and I are taking a cruise by ourselves. We chose late seating, as we plan to take a nap before dinner after spending the day in the sun. That way we'll be rested up to enjoy the show, comedian, and dancing.

I prefer early seating. I agree that there is more evening time.

With the late seating there is no time left.

Plus the most important thing.....you are not hungry for the midnight buffet.

I just returned from the 4/24 Western sailing of the Glory. She is a beautiful ship. I would venture to say the most beautiful of all of the Carnival ships I have been on. We had the late dinner seating (8:30). This is the seating I prefer because like so many other posters have mentioned I don't like to get ready early. I prefer to spend my time at the pool or in port and not to rush for dinner. That being said there were some disadvantages on this cruise with having the late dinner seating. #1 There were several activities that took place during our dinner seating that I would have liked to attend-trivia, games, wine tastings, etc. These activities were only scheduled 1 time each day-therefore there was not an opportunity for late seating guests to attend. #2 By the time we went to dinner and the show-the ship was dead. There was really nothing going on in any of the lounges past 11:30 PM. It seemed like everyone went to bed early. Maybe we just didn't have a very lively crowd on my particular sailing.

As far as the shows-I thought cummulatively they were the best of all 9 cruises I have been on. I went to every show except for the last one. The one exception to the performances was the illusionist that called himself "Justin Illusion". That show, in my opinion, was truly terrible. I have been on only one Norweigan cruise and I thought the shows were the absolute worst of any of the cruises I have been on. On the particular cruise that I was on I would say that the shows catered to a much older (like 70+) crowd. Once again-just my experience.

Hope this helps.

This was our first time with the 8:00 pm sitting. This is the late sitting in the Platinum Dining room on Glory. We THOROUGHLY enjoyed it! And we had 6 kids in our group, ages 8 - 16. The WHOLE atmosphere we found to be relaxing and not rushed. Having usually had the earlier sittings before, those now seem VERY rushed. The staff took their time, and actually mingled with the guests. Would do that time again in a heartbeat!
