MasterCard for on-board account

I’m setting up my onboard credit card account and in the drop-down boxes it mentions visa discovery and American Express but not MasterCard. I wanted to use my MasterCard is this a possibility? I emailed Viking a couple of days ago but I haven’t heard back.

Did you try using the email: tellus@viking.com? People seem to have a lot of luck using that one.

That is strange.  My on board credit card is a Mastercard .

I also found this strange when I tried it. However, when purchasing excursions I didn't have a problem using MasterCard. Sure hope they change this before I go. If it is not fixed on your account, you might be able to use it at the actual checkin for boarding.

Whatever you choose, best to have a card that does not charge international transaction fees.

Also, there is no requirement to set up this information in advance. Why have your credit card information sitting on another server when it isn't absolutely necessary? It takes them less than a minute to swipe your card at embarkation.

This would be true for Viking river cruises - but not ocean as all on board charges are in $US.

Viking uses a Swiss bank and even though we are charged in USD, some cards will consider this an international transaction. If you have a card that does not have any international transaction fees, then you avoid any surprises.
