TayanaLorna Posted January 20, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2020 What kind of medications are stocked in the on board medical facility? Antibiotics, allergic reactions, gastro-intestine?
Rare Sunflower & The Scientist Posted January 20, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2020 Thank you for asking this...I do not believe I have ever read exactly what types of things the medical facility can handle. I'm hoping they can get IV's started, but have wondered. Anyone out there know more about this?
deec Posted January 20, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2020 3 year old information but our friend had IV antibiotics administered daily for 5 days for an infected gallbladder that was diagnosed in Copenhagen. Thankfully Viking allowed him to continue the cruise. The hospital charged him nothing for a day filled with cardiac workup, CAT scans and blood work. As an aside ...I had a history of gallstones too so we both had our gallbladders removed before our World Cruise....really did not want surgery in most of the places on the itinerary!!! I would not take anyone's word for it (i.e. past passengers) as things could change. I had the "opportunity" to visit the medical area on Deck A forward on our cruise, and it certainly seemed they had quite a bit of things. However, only Viking would be able to help anyone out for their specific situations. Let us know if you hear from them.
geffric Posted January 20, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 20, 2020 Great question. I too would love to know the answer. On the other hand I carry with me a large supply of medications from aspirin to inhalers..
