Glacier Point Wilderness Safari (Skagway) v. Mears Glacier (Whittier)

We have 2 days pre-cruise in Whittier. One of the attractions that we are interested out of Whittier is the Mears Glacier. However, we already booked the Glacier Point Wilderness Safari excursion in Skagway.

It seems to me that these two offer similar experience.  Would you book both of these?  I am interested in your thoughts.

Thank you.

To the best of my knowledge, the Meares Glacier tour is only out of Valdez.  The 26 Glacier tour and the Blackstone Bay tour are out of Whittier.  On the Glacier Wilderness Safari you take a canoe to the glacier and get out and walk around.  The Whittier tours are about seeing lots of glaciers and wildlife from a fast boat.  I would do both.  They’re very different.  If I could only choose one, I’d do the 26 Glacier cruise.  Frankly, Whittier is a very small town and not much to do there except the cruises, and maybe some kayaking or fishing.
