Hotels that have shuttles to the port in Miami?

Are there any suggestions for a hotel that provides a shuttle to the port? Or would it be easier to rent a car? We do have to get from the airport (mia) and then to the hotel and then to the ship. We have done this in the past but haven't sailed out of Miami in many years so I'm not sure what the best options are and what will be the most cost effective for our group of 6.

What time do you arrive?  Only a few hotels near the MIA airport offer both airport and port shuttles - a good option if you are flying in late and just want a bed for the night.  Not a good option if you want to see some of Miami, get dinner, walk around, nightlife, etc.  Check the La Quinta East, MIA Embassy Suites and the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon.

 

If you are arriving earlier in the day then choose a downtown hotel with lots of nearby dining/shopping options - check out the Hampton Inn Mary Brickell (or just about any hotel in the Mary Brickell area), Intercontinental, Holiday Inn, Doubletree and a variety of Marriott options.  

 

For a party of 6 with normal bags you will need two cabs or two UberX/standard Lyft cars to get from MIA airport to downtown hotels - taxi fare will be about $28-30 on the meter and the UberX/Lyft fare should be under $20 per car.  In the morning two more cabs/Ubers will get you to the port - about $15+ for the taxi and about $10 for the Uber/Lyft.
