marylizcat Posted February 5, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2020 We are looking at a Caribbean cruise ex Montego Bay next winter. I wondered whether the arrival procedure at the airport is the same as at Barbados, namely straight off the plane and into the buses to the ship, or do you have to go through normal airport procedures? Vitalsign Posted February 5, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2020 Yes the same as Barbados but slower as the immigration form is a nightmare and lots get it wrong and hold up the queue to get on the coaches
marylizcat Posted February 5, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted February 5, 2020 Thank you, that’s good. We went via Barbados with P&O and I know it is the same procedure with all the ‘U.K.’ cruise lines there. I hoped Jamaica would do likewise but wasn't sure. Manchester is blue Posted February 5, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2020 I have a top tip for you,.......get off the plane and at the front of the line of disembarking passengers as best you can,.....it may save you an awful lot of queueing. I've visited Sangster airport approx 20 times, and the above works for me.
AlanCruise Posted February 6, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2020 It's not quite the same (at least it wasn't two years ago). Your bags are taken straight to the ship, but (unlike Barbados where the coaches came to the plane) you have to enter the terminal building. Cruise passengers then get diverted down a separate corridor where your passport forms are checked and you then go out a side entrance to the coaches. As others have said the forms are difficult to get right, sometimes they are given out on the plane and sometimes at the airport.
Miller Cruiser Posted February 7, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2020 If I remember correctly, when we sailed from Jamaica last winter, the immigration form asked for the date of departure. Cabin crew had said to date it for two weeks time. However, Jamaican immigration wanted it dating for the same day as arrival, as we were leaving on the ship that day. Added a little more time to the lengthy wait to get through immigration.
