It PAYS to keep checking prices: I JUST GOT A $640 CREDIT TODAY!

Hi folks, I got a couple questions for you smart CC members. First, and I think I know the answer to this but need to ask anyway, I'm booked on the 4/2 sailing of Mariner in a JS, since they are listed as N/A now on the price sheet (implying that there aren't any left), I would guess that they aren't subject to a price drop. Is that true? Would you call your TA and check anyway? I called when Slam talked about the price drop last week, and the CSA at RCI told me there was a price drop, when my TA called, they said there wasn't a price drop. Apparently it was a state thing and PA wasn't included.

 

Second question and this one is primarily for 3brothersboston since you were the original poster for the Roll Call, do you have any idea how many people are signed up for the M&M? We don't have a confirmed M&M yet. I wonder how far we are from one.

we are sailing on the voyager march 18. we paid in full jan 11. on my sheet that I printed off showing what I paid from the cruise specialist it says at the bottom -----

"If the price should decrease prior to your final payment date, we can easily match the new price. If the price should decrease on or after final payment date- the new price may ormay not be applicable as some of our price programs are restricted and valid for the new bookings only"

 

the price on the junior suite we booked has dropped but there isnt a room (quad interior for our kids available)

are they going to give me the runaround on this????

did those of you that got refunds have this at the bottom?

We're on the same sailing...You know if it were me? I would still call the TA and ask anyway. I'm beginning to wonder if my additional drop in price is because of the state discount thing? My DH was wondering if they give people who are coming from a far away distance a better discount? (Maybe they feel sorry for the Seahawks and are trying to help me feel better:)

 

I'm just surmising why the poster from AZ and me from WA got a steeper discount. I guess my advice would be it doesnt hurt to be persistant and ask. Call yourself to RC and get the info straight from the source and maybe pass that info along to your TA along with the RC's operator's name and extension.

 

Regarding the M & M...I am embarassed to say that I am the one that started the thread way back about "who's going April 2"... and I never took the time to sign up. Guess we should all do that so we can get something going????

I think the legal shmegal thing is standard. We are paid in full and they are still crediting us.

I'm the one who got the discount for March 12th. It was booked through a TA and we are from NY. The cruise was paid in full and I called TA and told her about discount. She called RCCL and confirmed the discount. I opted to upgrade to JS as it also dropped in price a few hundred dollars (not sure exactly what because the original price was based on E2 which was $400 less now). So definitely CALL TA. I am wondering if TA would have called me about drop in price !!!! Somehow I don't think so lol.

That's why we booked with them again for this summer's cruise. TA got us a $200 refund on our cruise last summer by checking the prices. I didn't even ask him to, he went upon himelf to check the prices. Says he does it for all his clients. Happy clients tell their friends he said.

I keep searching and got a price credit for pr of 760.00 last week. today a js and interior on deck 10 were released and they are actually handicapped accesible rooms.. Cancelled the pr and e1 that i had on deck 8 and am actually going to get another 40 dolllars in addition to the 760.\for downgrading to the interior room. The actual price difference for the upgrade was 700.00 but since I am getting a n 800.00 refund that pays for the upgrade and a little dent in my bar tab. I feel bad for getting an accessible room but since it is only 35 days to sailing, i hope it is ok. We are on Mariner in april

Just warning you that letting everyone know you took an handicaped room when you are not handicapped has caused some heated arguments in the past. Don't be surprised if you get some intense opinions.

Imo, the cruiselines should require proof of needed handicap access, for just this reason.

I agree about some type of confirmation but at the point that the cruise line releases the handicapped cabins to the general public then I say go for it. The cruise lines aren't going to leave the cabin vacant if at all possible. So if 30 or (35 days out like KIDRN said) the cruise line opens the booking to the general public than all is fair.

I checked on cruisesonly.com website which is who i booked for and they showed the residential rates. First RCI did not want to refund but my travel agent called twice and they agreed. RCI website does not show the residential price break. Now as for the accesible room I agree that you should not reserve that room unless you need it. I did not call and ask for the room , it was on the website. When I called my TA to inquire I asked her to ask RCI if it was ok to reserve the room if we did not need a handicap accesible. again it is close to sail date i think that is why it was released. I can assure you if i were called by RCI and asked to move to accomadate a person in need of an accesible room, I would do so in a heartbeat, even if it meant postponing our cruise. :)

Tired of saving money? Nope, not me!

 

I also found a drop in my cruise price today. I called and had $324 lopped off my cruise price! It's not as much as some of you found, but I'll take it. I spoke to Sally at RCI, who was very nice and told me to keep watching the website. I'm not sure if she was just being polite or if she is "in the know".

Woo Woo, looks like the prices for our Aug 27 Rhapsody cruise out of Glavetson went down.

 

We booked CatM at $569 pp, and I looked it up tonight and the proces ahve gone down. Either we get $50pp back or upgrade to CatJ for $559... I think we're going to upgrade to CatJ with a bigger cabin.

 

Im going to call in the AM and see what happens.

prices on rhapsody 4/26 dropped measurably. i got credit of 306 for inside rooms and 400 for a JS.

 

wonder what's goin' on ... that's a spring break out of Galveston. got a great price on hotel, too.

 

That may be spring break somewhere in the Country,But Galvestons is week of March 13 as is most of the rest of the State,or the following week.

 

Those April weeks are usually some of the lowest because they fall between Easter,and Summer vacation.

Has anyone had more than one price reduction on their particular cruise?

Do TA's track reductions for you or is it my responsiblity to keep checking?

While I think SOME TA's track reductions, I'd suggest you take the initiative and check it yourself.

To all the readers for this post. Calling RCCL and asking for a credit for reduction in cabin price after final payment WORKS! Oh my gosh! I just called RCCL, because the price of the balcony cabin (E, deck 6) was about $300.00 less than when I had booked back in October 05. Not only did I get "upgraded" to a D class balcony on Deck 8, but the difference in price (due to some "balcony-promotion" going on), was $860.00, which has now been credited back to me!!!! It is worth it to ask nicely! The rep I spoke with went out of her way to find me a better cabin! For a 1st time cruiser like me (and my husband), we are getting a great experience so far! GO RCCL!!!

Yippie...

I called today and was able to upgrade from a CatM to CatJ for $10 less.

The Cat M prices had gone down $50 so we decided to get a bigger cabin.

 

 

Lets hope these prices go down again.
