It PAYS to keep checking prices: I JUST GOT A $640 CREDIT TODAY!

Recommended Posts

Over the weekend, I noticed that our 9/17 Mariner cruise had a price drop of approximately $120 per person. I called my TA this morning, and she will adjust the price, but she said that I will lose the perks that were included in my original booking (wine, petit fours, etc.). Has anyone else had this happen?

Thanks,

Tricia

Another reason why we book through the Cruise line itself.

TA's can be fiesty and difficult to deal with when the prices change that they either lose $$ or reduce thier pay.

Sounds like your TA is using retribution to "pay you back" for the lower fee.

I'd ask for those details in writing regarding losing perks etc. Else go directly to RCCL and see what they can do.

I do know their toll-free number has an option for cruise's booked via a TA. not sure what the cust server rep will tell you. But it could be worth a shot.

Thanks for your info, I didn't know that you could get a refund if your cruise price went down. I thought it was like shopping if you buy at the wrong time you pay more. I checked my cruise and saved $840.00 on my cruise in April.

Thanks for the help

While I've read of others getting the price reduction, I keep thinking, well that won't happen for me...

Guess what, it did! Our Adventure oTS, July 2nd cruise went down over $400 for our PR cabin! :D :D :D

I think I'll hop over to the Roll Call boards and share with the others on this cruise. Keep posting!

Another price drop. Yes, they do happen more than once for the same sailing. I originally booked in July 05 and have seen 4 price drops since January. After the third price drop I upgraded cabins. It certainly pays to keep checking. I believe that I have received total credits of $1900 and paid $600 for the upgrade. I do have two JS. Good luck!

i am now going to check as often as possible for a price drop because i def paid more than i wanted to for the Adventure OTS for June 25th. it was also great to see that you could get it before and after final payment, which made me feel better.

thanks for all the great info on how to save money :)

Since RCCL doesn't allow discounting anymore, the price you see on all sites is likely to be the same. If you see a drop before final payment, call your TA (or RCCL if booked directly through them) alert them and have them contact the cruiseline for you.

I checked the website out for our cruise on Rhapsody in Oct, and saw that our balcony cabin went down in price. I called RCCL and spoke to a rep, (by the way, very helpful). The price reduction was $400.00 back in my pocket. (Actually, more money to shop or do excursions... ).. LOL

Thanks to these boards and all the helpful hints I read here I have been diligently watching our cruise fare and today I called and got ...drum roll please...$1002 back from a 2 cabin booking!!!!! I can't believe it! I called my TA and expected a hassle or to have to change rooms (which I was willing to do for that much money) but guess what? No hassle, and most importantly no room changes!! We have nice mid ship cabins right across from each other so I am just on cloud nine. I NEVER believed this could happen to us, let alone for that much money! I have had the best luck on this cruise so far and I haven't even left port. I may have to try the casino:eek:

hi all, Can you explain how i can check out if there is any discounts for The legend 20 May 2006 to Northern Europe from Southampton. We are U.K citizens and have paid our local TA the full amount last month. Does discounts only apply in the USA. Thanks very much for any help.

We were not as fortunate as some of you with the big price reduction but there was a $100pp drop on the 10 Sept Mariner cruise this passed weekend. We chose to move from the 6th(E2) to the 8th(E1), booked the middle hump cabin and still saved $180..every little bit helps. So it does pay to check on your cruise price periodically.:)

I want you all to keep watching your fares. I saw our fare jump up several hundred dollars and then down several hundred dollars. Just keep looking up until you pay the final deposit! Ya never know when the price fairy will visit...;)

I just received a price drop too. I had a quad, inside, cat. L cabin booked for a Coastal Cruise on Radiance of the Seas for September and received a price drop of $600 for the cabin... PLUS RCCL upgraded my family to 2 connecting inside, cat. L's for even less money than one quad cabin!!!! So, for $675 less than 1 inside quad cabin, I now have 2 inside, connecting rooms!!!!

I had checked the price on RCCL's website and noticed that it droped a little bit (less than $200) and let my travel agent know. She called me back and got me the above deal, as there was apparently a Canadian Resident special rate for our sailing that we were able to take advantage of. This sale significantly reduced the price for 1st/2nd pax, but not for 3rd/4th... so the 1st/2nd pax were paying a lot less than the 3rd/4th.

someone may have asked you all this, but i'm not sure... how do you find out about residency special rates? is it listed on the site or do i have to call rccl and ask them?

Oh my gosh!!! We have gotten 3 price drops so far and we are still 6 weeks away.:D Saving $400 on the two of us. I just looked today and our sailing is cheaper than the sailing the week before and the week after. Sooo lucky. So far the only rooms booked are the promanade and the larger suites so maybe we will still get another drop. One can always hope.

never be afraid to call and ask for YOUR money. It is yours and they will gladly refund it to you. Good Luck.

WooWoo.

Rhapsody prices went down again fr our Aug 27 cruise.

We started out with a CatM room at $569pp, prices went down 2 weeks ago and instead of staying in our CatM we upgraded to a CatJ for $559.

Today I checked and our CatJ room is now $509

I also sent in the $50 coupon and I hope we get the $50 credit to our room.

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=314735

We'll use the savings to justify the higher air tickets and transportation costs from Houston into Galveston.

Looks like $50 pp roundtrip is the cheapest for a limo from HOU to Galveston.

I guess if we had booked an outside room the reduction amounts would be higher. But as a US Navy Submarine veteran I prefer sleeping in the dark.

Balconies are nice, maybe one day I'll book one, but for us we're on the same ship eating the same food, I want to control our expenses. Booking an inside room gives us that ability.

This is our 1st RCCL cruise, our other 2 were on Carnival and so far, RCCL is cheaper.

Our expectations are hoping for a better cruise experience and not to miss 2 of our ports like our cruise last summer. We were on the Carnival Victory when Rita and the othe storm blew through.

We had to hunker down in Barbados for 2 port days.. We stayed on board and had the best time. No lines and the aadults were able to use the water slide.
