3dogmom Posted April 11, 2020 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2020 I was just checking the MSC website and our 4/10/2020 7 night cruise departing from Hamburg is no longer displaying as an option. There is a cruise departing from Rotterdam on 10/2/2020 that is docked in Hamburg on 10/4, and arrives back in Rotterdam on 10/9/2020. Anyone have any thoughts/details? cublet Posted April 12, 2020 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2020 Hello, MSC usually has multiple boarding ports along the route of the cruise. And, and here's a warning, if you book a guarantee cabin there's no guarantee that you won't be turfed out of the cabin you are in at another port. 3dogmom Posted April 12, 2020 Author #4 Share Posted April 12, 2020 My October cruise has been booked for months. On the roll call, someone said they were to board on October 6th and that is also no longer listed on the website. The first cruise leaving Hamburg is is October 18th. cublet Posted April 13, 2020 #6 Share Posted April 13, 2020 Hello, I've said it before, but I will try again. MSC allows embarkation at many ports along the route of a cruise thus appearing to operate many more (overlapping) cruises than you would have with 'everybody on' at one port and 'everybody off' at another. Your 4th October departure from Hamburg is day 4 of the 30th September departure from Southampton. Looking at a brochure should make it clear. We have done a few cruises now with MSC and never heard of that though as yet we have never done a GTY booking with them. That would be a nightmare unpacking and having to move half way through the cruise though for a 7 night cruise we can now get by with hand luggage .
