Walking Distances Ship to Town & Glacier ?

I am planning shore excursions in the ports, but wonder if before/after excursions we can just walk into town for shopping etc. or must we take a shuttle/taxi for the following towns- Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, Victoria.

Also, we were planning a combination tour of whale watching and Mendenhall glacier, but wonder if we really need to see Mendenhall since we are going to be seeing glaciers when we cruise through Glacier Bay.

Thanks.

All ports are walkable from the cruise ships, without mobility limitations. if docked at the AJ dock in Juneau there is a shuttle. Only you can decide if you want to see Mendenhall, you will get a look at it from your shuttle to the whale watch and from your boat. Mendenhall has a very nice visitor center.

Victoria is your farthest port, and a shuttle/cab is needed, unless you want a 20 min. walk??

Thank you both for your replies. You mentioned that in Juneau if they stop at dock AJ we will need a shuttle. Is the shuttle provided by the cruiseline, or if not, what is the approximate cost? Same question for Victoria.
