brovol Posted June 1, 2020 #27 Share Posted June 1, 2020 I think the time to buy a cruise was right after they started cancelling, and you could book well out into 2021. We booked right when they cancelled our cruise in March, and used the 125% FCC, plus the added 20%. The prices were not outrageously great, but they were low enough that we had plenty left over after paying for the same cruise, in the same cabin category (spa-mini suite), with more perks, four times the OBC, and after prepaying all gratuities and unlimited streaming internet, and still with about $200 left over. I don't think the deals are going to be great at this point, because 1) a lot of cabins on all ships will be occupied by FCC bookings, leaving less available for regular bookings (less supply means higher prices), 2) Ships will likely be sailing at much less than full capacity (again, less supply means higher prices), and 3) People are becoming less "scared" of covid-19, as actual numbers come in reflecting that mortality rates are much closer to seasonal flu, and that the "information" provided by the media and many politicians was largely inaccurate and is being constantly refuted by Dr's and scientists who have new data; thus increasing demand (people want to cruise, especially after losing the opportunity in 2020). There is no reason for cruise lines to lower prices. They will get as much out of the cabins they can sell as they can.
Nclcruise1415 Posted June 1, 2020 #28 Share Posted June 1, 2020 Demand is high right now. People are sitting home planning for late 2020 and 2021 cruises. There's no real need for the lines to drop prices at this point. Once things start opening up and more ships become available you may see some lower prices or better perks coming our way.
