more mangos please Posted February 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2006 I just read that the Infinity is getting a new veiwing gallery for their Art Auction works AND and new Acupunture area. I don't know if the other Milli-Class ships have these yet or will add them when they next are in for repairs. Details here

more mangos please Posted February 9, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted February 9, 2006 I am kind of shocked that I didn't see anything about this here. Normally, a few of the posters are well hooked into what is going on with Celebrity. I really thought the news would get more buzz.
dileep Posted February 9, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2006 I just read that the Infinity is getting a new veiwing gallery for their Art Auction works AND and new Acupunture area. I don't know if the other Milli-Class ships have these yet or will add them when they next are in for repairs. Details here Millennium now has a nice acupuncture area on Dec 7 where the Words music library used to be. The signs on the ship still say Words. They were also supposed to have a staff lounge up front near the heliport, but that could not be done when the dry dock moved from Versailles to Portugal. There is no Art Gallery on the millie, but it could have been a result of the shortened time in Dry Dock.
Blazerboy Posted February 9, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 9, 2006 Well, as for not having the serious art collection interfered with by the art auction offerings, that's like saying you don't want your neighbor to park his '69 rusted out El Camino in front of your tar paper and corrugated steel covered trailer, 'cuz people might call you 'trailer trash!' (Now, Andrew, that was plain rude! ) I'm sorry, but as I post often, the art work is not to my taste, but others seem to like it. Therefore, I'm glad if it provides a source of revenue to the cruise line that helps keep cruise fares lower. (Was that more politic?:o ) If they can find a place for the artwork (actually, both the art auction stuff AND Celebrity's collection) that doesn't bother me, I'll be happy.:D And I promise to do my best by making up for any lost revenue by supporting the Martini Bar!:) Andrew
more mangos please Posted February 9, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted February 9, 2006 I think they said you have to drink 200 martinis to equal the revenue on a $3000 painting. Sounds like a challenge to me.
Blazerboy Posted February 9, 2006 #8 Share Posted February 9, 2006 But on a three week cruise, that's not even ten per day! :D (hic) Of course, reading the fine print, that 200 martinis is equivalent to the profit on ONE painting! Think I'd have to sabotage the auction somehow if I wanted to have any hope of keeping my liver. more mangos please Posted February 10, 2006 Author #9 Share Posted February 10, 2006 I'll drink to that. It's good to see that these ships keep changing. I've sail the M-class a few times now and I always find a spot I enjoy. Unlike Danno, I rather enjoy the art collection on the ships, but everyone has their own tastes. The Chilhuly glass works are a favorite of mine.
dileep Posted February 10, 2006 #10 Share Posted February 10, 2006 The Chilhuly glass works are a favorite of mine. There is a Chihuly on the Millennium too, but it is in a less travelled spot near the Sports Bar star case.
RodPat Posted February 10, 2006 #11 Share Posted February 10, 2006 This glass sculpture is hanging at the entrance to the Bar at the Edge of the Earth on Constellation. I felt it fit in that atmosphere very well. Pat
more mangos please Posted February 13, 2006 Author #12 Share Posted February 13, 2006 It should be noted that it's been there longer than "The Bar at the Edge of the Earth". It's beautiful at night and can be seem from the shore if you are in port in the evening.
smdubowsky Posted February 14, 2006 #13 Share Posted February 14, 2006 Constellation has had these changes for over a year.
more mangos please Posted February 14, 2006 Author #14 Share Posted February 14, 2006 and the light has been there since it first sailed. While it's location seems to fit the 'bar', it has always been there and wasn't moved or added to add tot he 'bar' theme. That said, it seems like the Dry Dock changes will make the M-class ships more unique and less 'just like the others'.
