The OP may have meant to ask about favorite embarkation port/home port, but what the OP asked is, "What is your favorite cruise port and why is it your favorite?". The words "home" and "embarkation" never appeared. Only  later did they clarify their intent.

Isn’t a “port” a port?  Embarkation ports and ports of call are both “ports”.   Admittedly there are differences, but as a practical matter, what makes something one’s favorite port will be there whether you experience it before boarding a cruise, as a port of call part way through the cruise, or after debarking.
