Rare WhaleTailFlCruiser Posted October 28, 2020 #151 Share Posted October 28, 2020 I mean what did you think was going to happen? Carnival has to make sure everyone stays healthy and that you aren't out on your own doing God knows what. Oh well more space for the rest of us. Did you also purchase insurance or some other option that might not be refundable? Reduced deposits at 99, but once the poster added extra money now cant get it because normally deposits are 250 pp. Shame they didnt check rules or book a refundable but more expensive rate. It's about knowing what you booked and faqs

Never in our wildest dreams did we ever think we would be canceling the cruise when we booked it.

I am just as worried about ccl surviving without bankruptcy and people getting their cruises as booked. Lots of worry to go around. No one booking a nonrefundable rate expects trouble tbh. Personally I have a lot of stock for a lot more than deposit money I'm down. Lots. I wouldnt bore you with my losses on paper, but I bought for the dividend which is gone. Had I seen covid coming I would have invested different. Want to compare possible losses because neither of us saw this comimg? People seem to think a $500 loss is unfair, but I'd bet I'm down $100k plus. As soon as I saw that princess ship stuck in asia I knew I was in trouble. Let's hope we both get out of this without losses. You could be in deeper like me. My nonrefundable deposit is the least of my worries. Tbh. When you read the fine print, you're thinking of hurricanes, snowstorms and family emergencies. Who'd would have thought this could happen. Hope it all works out for you.
mouche Posted October 29, 2020 #156 Share Posted October 29, 2020 My husband and I talked about this for our upcoming Mardi Gras sailing on Feb 6, 2021 (if she sails) and he would have no problem staying on the ship and not getting off at all, myself on the other hand would miss going off on my own to relax at a beautiful beach. I have only taken shore excursion that I booked on my own, not through carnival as I can find them much cheaper myself. But I would have no problem with still sailing while this rule is in place, it won't last forever and if I have to do that little sacrifice so we can get back to cruising then so be it!!!
