CruisingIGo Posted November 4, 2020 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2020 I am looking at the newly released 2022 itineraries and found something strange. As I compare 12 day Med cruises, there is a pricing difference that I don't understand. The Marina cruise is $900 more per person. Riveria.....April 25-May 7 Marina....May 2- May 14 Of the 10 ports visited, 9 are the same. Any ideas why the Marina cruise is more "desirable"? You'll go crazy trying to shop for travel with questions like that. Revenue generation is a course of study at Hospitality Schools. It is also worth noting that April/May is a shoulder Season in the Med, so the Marina Cruise may just fall in High Season because historically the weather is better (warmer with less rain) in May than April. Anecdotally our spring Med cruise experiences concur with Jim’s analysis. Our one Med cruise in April was a dreary rainy affair while our several May experiences, including 2017 and 2019, have had much better weather. Rare ToxM Posted November 6, 2020 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2020 Shoulder season is also a lot less busy in tourist places - probably for the reason above, but if less crowds are a factor in your “new normal” then that’s something to take into account. We enjoyed a fantastic cruise in the med in Oct/Nov, Santorini was a delight with less crowds and Venice was also much more manageable.
