cterry Posted February 17, 2006 #26 Share Posted February 17, 2006 bambam2972:We have ocean view with the kids inside. Our son will be shy 5 months of being 18. I'm concerned he might feel left out, although he is very outgoing, (on the football team, wrestles, and track). He has asked what will he be able to do. When we went last year one of our sons was a month shy of 16. Unfortunately, both of my boys are not outgoing. He was bored throughout most of the cruise. My 18 year old, even though shy, had a good time cause he could go into the casino. If your son is outgoing there were a ton of kids that age on the cruise, he should be good to go. There also is a weight room that he could use that he might meet people in. My oldest was also a football player and wrestler so I feel a kinship with ya. Hope he enjoys. gatour Posted February 18, 2006 #27 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Great Review. Is the bar in the Viking Crown lounge staffed during the day. Trying to figure out my bar priorities, since I just booked an impromptu SOS cruise.
copnlpn2 Posted February 18, 2006 #28 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Thanks for the review of the Sovereign! I'm treating my son and daughter, along with their spouses and my sister (my niece is coming too) to their first-ever cruise as their Christmas presents this year. We'll be doing the Sovereign's 4-day Bahama cruise leaving Oct. 23 from Port Canaveral and it will be my first cruise aboard a "small" RCCL ship. I do have a question - can anyone recall the color scheme in the dining room? Sounds silly but I like to wear clothes to dinner that coordinate or compliment, not clash, with the colors around me. Happy cruising to all and hope to see some of you aboard the SOS in October! Cindy
BobBeaSea Posted February 18, 2006 #29 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Great reveiw. Sovereign is a special ship for me, my first 2 cruises ('90 & '93) were on her. I think I was in your cabin the second cruise...without the balcony :D. It wasn't called a JS either, just Superior Ocen View or something like that. I was happy to see her get some balconys. She is a grand old lady now :)

jrm9999 Posted February 18, 2006 Author #32 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Great Review. Is the bar in the Viking Crown lounge staffed during the day. Trying to figure out my bar priorities, since I just booked an impromptu SOS cruise. I was in the Viking Crown Saturday before we pulled into Nassau and it was staffed. On Sunday, I was up there from about 9:30-11:30 and did not see it staffed. Some areas were roped off for special functions Sunday so I don't know if that made a difference.
