Tuscany4 Posted May 4, 2021 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2021 I have my eye on a couple of cruises in July that will no longer stop in any country that the fcdo advises against travel. In all likelihood one of the cruises will only stop in “green countries” as in the new U.K. travel traffic light system. However, the fcdo currently advises against all international cruises . This doesn’t stop us going but does invalidate our annual travel insurance policy. Does anyone know of a company that will offer a policy that will cover a cruise despite the fcdo advise. I fear it will be some time before the Uk government will change this advise. Any help to get us back on the ocean very welcome.

Just an idea, but what about the travel insurance you can purchase through Seabourn. Would that work? I have no idea, so this is more of a question. Tuscany4 Posted May 4, 2021 Author #3 Share Posted May 4, 2021 Thanks for the idea. Just looked and the Seabourn shield travel insurance only valid for USA residents. In the U.K. it’s provided by a U.K. company so got same problem.

Saga includes insurance in all their cruise fares. Big ships (1000pax) but both brand new. They also pick you up from your home. They are doing several UK-based trips as well as Med cruises. All leave from and return to UK ports. Edited May 5, 2021 by Fletcher
markham Posted May 5, 2021 #5 Share Posted May 5, 2021 The advice is subject to change as the FCDO website says. For the past several weeks we have been barred from all overseas travel and this is expected to change with an announcement this week effective 17 May. So watch the website. The vaccinations are going well in the EU, and Greece is prioritizing the tourist sector which is more than 1/6 of their economy. So we are going anyway and on Seabourn in July. The idea of Saga doesn't have the same appeal. Happy and healthy sailing!
rl787 Posted May 5, 2021 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2021 I had the same concerns when doing a trip to Spain last year, the only cover that I could find that gave me some Covid cover was Staysure, they do have a specialist cruise policy. Staysure would not normally be my choice for cruise cover but under the current circumstances they may be worth a look. The policy info I got seemed to be honest from the advisor and everything that was promised verbally was confirmed in the policy documents. I would not normally mention a company name in a post but the OP was after some specialist help.

You will now have to self isolate on your return
markham Posted May 10, 2021 #8 Share Posted May 10, 2021 Who said anything about returning? We are “in” no matter what. And Greece, like most of Western Europe, will hopefully be green in 2 months. And anyway, what are you worried about? Going to work or something? We are talking about a Seabourn cruise, matey! (You can always test out on day 5, right?) Happy and healthy sailing!
