travelwell Posted July 15, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2021 My husband and I just booked the Miami to Tahiti segment of the 2023 WC. We are then spending two weeks on Windstar. After that we will fly to Auckland for a 30 something day cruise on the Odyssey, Auckland to Bali. This is our patched together cruise to make up for 2 canceled WC’s on Regent. First question is whether it is a mistake to take a segment of a WC. Will we be welcomed by full WCers? My second question is whether anyone has done a patched together itinerary before? We will have to do something about luggage with Windstar.. Our TA does not trust luggage forward from Tahiti to Auckland. Windstar has agreed to store 2 pieces of luggage. I have no idea if the several times a week flight from Tahiti to Auckland can handle 3-4 large bags. Does anyone have any input? Isklaar Posted July 16, 2021 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2021 We did a 14 day segment of the 2014 (?) WC. It went extremely well and we had no problem as segmenters. Seabourn handled the special events for the full WC crowd discreetly. We found it as easy to socialise as any other SB cruise. We had some concerns before the cruise but it was great and we would certainly do a segment again in the future.
tv24 Posted July 16, 2021 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2021 We were on 2 segments of the 2014 WC and had a terrific time. We met quite a few of the folks who were on board for the full WC and made close friends with them. Some of these friendships continue to this day. It is true that the world cruisers did get a bit of special attention and there were a few moments that we felt a little neglected, but I note that the customers with lots of Seabourn days on board also received special attention. But this was really a minor issue as the service on Seabourn is always very good. Now compare that to Crystal where we were segmenters on their 2015 WC. We were almost completely snubbed by our fellow passengers and made no good friends during our month on board. It seemed as though the world cruisers had bonded and were unwilling to expand their circle of acquaintances. Simply put, the passenger mix on Seabourn is extremely friendly and I feel confident that you will be welcomed by your fellow PAX, both those on the WC as well as those on a segment. 2

fdnycruiser Posted July 16, 2021 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2021 I did 2 segments on a Silversea WC one year, and 3 segments on another. We got along great with everyone, even had some of the passengers from the prior year on our second. Actually, some of the WC cruisers said it was nice to see new faces come on board. I say go for it,and you’ll have a great time
