Megan's Bay or Honeymoon Beach (or Sapphire Beach??!!)

OK we have done Sapphire several times & love it. But thought we should change it up.

I have avoided Megen's Bay due to reports it is very crowded; thought perhaps with fewer ships at this time it is less so?

Have not been to St. John & heard Honeymoon Beach is great.

Which do you recommend?

We dock at Havensight--is the hourly ferry close by if we go to St. John?

We also prefer Sapphire and stay at the SBRM when staying on STT. If we were looking at another beach (and had at least 8 hrs in port) we’d either taxi to Lindqvist beach, arguably the nicest beach on STT, or if we had more time we’d take the Red Hook ferry to STJ and enjoy a beach there.

For Lindqvist we’d grab sandwiches and drinks at the port and enjoy the beach away from fellow cruise excursion passengers.
For STJ, Honeymoon is nice and les touristy than Trunk. Cinnamon is another nice option. 😃
I assume you’d be going in your own whatever beach you choose? The Red Hook ferry is a 20 - 25 minute, $10/pp  taxi from Havensight, same as the other East End beaches.

Meant to add - if you are looking for nice amenities you may want to consider Magens, Secret Harbor, Coki or Trunk...

I do prefer a beach I can rent a chair, have access to real toilets & drinks.

Which of these do you recommend?

We are docked 11-7; we usually like 3-4 hours on the beach & be back a couple hours before sailaway.

Arriving later in the day and spending just a few hours (and looking for something other than Sapphire) we'd stick to STT to avoid the travel time to STJ, and avoid the more popular beaches if other ships arrive before you. If no ships are docked in Crown Bay, Lindbergh Bay (aka Emerald Beach) may be a great choice, even though it is closer to Crown Bay than Havensight. Or Coki is a beautiful, small beach if you've not been?

The only reason we dismiss Magens is we've been once and it's just kinda "blah" to us as compared to the East End beaches, especially Sapphire. But that is just us, it may be an ideal day to check it out depending on the crowds!

WELL--even tho Celebrity usually docks at Havensight, word from a passenger on a recent cruise said they docked at Crown Bay.

So would you then recommend Emerald Beach? Is Coki still recommended?

Yes I see you are scheduled to dock in CB so Lindbergh would be perfect for a few hours! Honeymoon Beach on Water Island is another option if you haven't been, small beach area with a food truck and free lounges, rustic public restrooms. Also very crowded anymore with excursion operators dropping their guests for lunch.

So we'd be happy with the facilities at the Emerald Resort in Lindbergh...beach bar and restaurant are great...

Mom is battling cancer. She hasn't walked as much in the last 6 months as she had prior so is finding she gets winded faster. (Chemo/radiation are done & she feels good otherwise--thus why we are sailing NOW; well in 10 days)

Is there going to be a long walk to get a cab or from the cab drop off to the beach?

(BTW we are in an SV & she assures me the distance to the elevator doesn't worry her; when in Vegas in May she let us know when she needed a break from walking--oh, let's stop in this casino!🤣)

We haven't docked at CB so someone else can help with the walking distance to the taxi from the ship. We have been in CB for other reasons and I think the taxis are much closer than if your ship was number 3 at Havensight. That pier can be a long walk...

If you have the driver drop you at the Emerald Resort, it's a very short walk into the restaurant and then to your lounges and umbrella. Nice restaurant and beach bar, and the restrooms are centrally located as well...

We can certainly hail one of the golf carts typically available on long piers.

What is approx cost to taxi to Lindqvist beach?
