deb380 Posted February 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2006 Was reading a review from the Liberty. It stated that when they Embarked they were charged $150.00 for each guest. What is this for in all the threads never heard of this.

What is this for in all the threads never heard of this. Just another guess till the link is posted, but perhaps it is the "authorization" for a debit card for the sail and sign. It isn't actually a "charge" but the money is "held" by CCL and the cardmembers bank until the actual cahrges are posted at the end of the cruise. If the guest spends more, then additional funds will be authorized.
Gypsywych Posted February 16, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2006 http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=15053 Second paragraph near the bottom. Appears to be the credit card hold for the S&S card...

cherylandtk Posted February 16, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 16, 2006 Yep, that sounds from the review like what it was. Your onboard account's very first item will be for the weekly tips; at a week cruise for two, that is $140 the first day. At embark, Carnival will check your credit card to make sure you have at least $300 available credit. You don't actually get charged that amount on your credit card the first day, though. Credit cards will have a hold placed each night for the amount spent that day, and at the end of the cruise the accumulated holds will be released and the total owed to Carnival will actually be charged to your card. VentureMan_2000 Posted February 16, 2006 #8 Share Posted February 16, 2006 Yep... sounds like the $140 tip charge for the cabin. Reviewer probably just didn't remember correctly... off by $10. no big deal. TIPs of $70 per person are charged to your card right away.
