From my research: The bus is a couple of hundred yards from the cruise terminal in Pireaus.

Piraeus: 8:15am onwards, every 15 minutes when cruise ships are in dock, every 45-70 minutes when no cruise ships in dock.

Pre-Covid, the above information was accurate.  The OP is specifically asking about things from this Covid summer, so hopefully someone with recent experience will reply.

Also, be aware that there are a couple cruise terminals in Pireaus.  If you arrive at Terminal A, the HoHo buses, if running normally, will be a short walking distance from the Terminal.  If you arrive at Terminal B, you first ride a shuttle bus from Terminal B to Terminal A.  Then you walk the short distance to catch a HoHo bus.

We were just in Pireaus 9 days ago (to cruise on the Seabourn Ovation).  There are actually 3 cruise pier areas, "A," "B," and "C."    The "A" pier area is the best known and major cruise pier and is being used by various vessels.  The "B" Terminal area (which is some distance from the A pier) has been recently used by the Celebrity Apex.   The "C" Terminal has been used by the Seabourn Ovation although some of the crew thought they might sometimes use B if it is available.   We did not notice any internal port buses but the way things are in Greece it may or may not be running when you get to Athens.  Personally we would not even consider using public or HoHo buses since it increases the COVID risk and a positive COVID test can be a real mess (and expensive).

We have been traveling throughout the pandemic and have let common sense and indoor social distancing rule much of our habits.  For transportation around Athens we used taxis which are the least risk in getting from Point A to Point B.  My philosophy is that it is better to spend $50 on a taxi then several thousand dollars quarantining in the event of a positive COVID test.   I should mention that if folks from Terminal's B or C want to get to the HoHo buses (if they are running) it is less then a half mile walk over to the HoHo parking area located outside Terminal A.

They are running according to the paperwork we had . We rode one and it was very uncrowded . We passed a few , all were fine . And open air .
