Rare ClipperinSFO Posted October 26, 2021 #26 Share Posted October 26, 2021 One wonders what assumptions went into the latest QM2 reschedule, whereby the first TA was moved to 13 Dec with the 2 days GC inspection in NY. If the current schedule relies on expiration of the CSO then we can expect further cancellations. They had to have seen extension of the CSO as a possibility, so one wonders what Plan B is. I am so glad I don't work at Carnival House. Jeesh.

The CSO written last fall prohibits sailing or offering to sail an itinerary longer than 7 days. I think it also basically prohibits point-to-point cruising (e.g., Southampton-New York-Caribbean-New York-Southampton - although even the 12-night NYC-NYC closed loop portion seems to run afoul of the 7 night limit). Edit: I did find this additional info on a CDC page: CDC has provided an alternative to ships sailing out of foreign ports with passengers and repositioning to the U.S., in lieu of operating with no passengers for 14 days prior to resuming passenger operations in U.S. waters. Cruise ship operators may contact CDC at eocevent349@cdc.gov to request this information. This suggests that there may be a way for QM2 to sail from Southampton to NYC, perhaps the planned two-day inspection period in new York is in response to this provision.
