xoxbear Posted September 25, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2021 Has anyone gone to Belize since cruising restarted? I am booked on the Constellation for November 7th and I was planning on doing a private cave tubing tour but someone in our group that is going on the cruise indicated that Celebrity will not allow you to disembark in Belize unless you are booked on one of their shore excursions. Is this true?
jelayne Posted September 25, 2021 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2021 I suggest you check the Celebrity website frequently as these things change quite often and this is the best place to stay up to date. canderson Posted September 26, 2021 #3 Share Posted September 26, 2021 We're on the same cruise with you as the first leg of a B2B, and haven't seen any restrictions posted yet, but definitely stay tuned to that link from jelayne.
xoxbear Posted September 26, 2021 Author #4 Share Posted September 26, 2021 Did you see Belize listed? I may have missed when I was looking at the link but I did not see anything mentioned for Belize if they required or did not require a ship excursion. jelayne Posted September 26, 2021 #5 Share Posted September 26, 2021 I don’t believe Celebrity is sailing to Belize yet. I would expect that Belize will be added to the Western Caribbean port info in the next few weeks.
canderson Posted September 26, 2021 #6 Share Posted September 26, 2021 There are many ports that have never been on the list. If I am remembering the history correctly, the reason that very specific notes exist about ports that DO allow private tours is because at one point they did NOT. So in essence: If you see a port that requires a ship's tour, well, that's that for now. If you see a port that specifically does NOT require a ship's tour, I believe it's only noted that way because there was a prior notification that ship's tours WERE at one time required at that port, but are no longer, and a 'correction' has been posted and so that port remains in the list. If you don't see a port, it seems that the port was never an issue to begin with. It was never on the "ship only" list, and therefore no reason to retract that with any additional notes. The status of any port could, of course, change to any other status in the future.
bruzin_for_a_cruizin Posted September 26, 2021 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2021 I typically book a mix of cruiseline and third-party excursions, depending on availability and price delta. For my upcoming Nov 13th sailing, I'm keeping it safe and just booking everything (primarily scuba diving) through X. I know I'll pay a bit more, but the piece of mind is worth it to me.
