Arlenedow Posted February 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2006 We are thinking of booking this cruise. Does anyone have experience with crossing the Atlantic in Nov.? Arlene
spindrift Posted February 19, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2006 We did the Transatlantic this past November, and we only had one day of rain and rough seas, and not all that rough. We rather like a bit of movement, so it was an absolutely delightful trip. (Sorry Oceania, we were on the Prinsendam.) I may consider the same trip you are taking for this year. They are great trips. Druke I Posted February 19, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2006 We did a Nov (95) Lisbon to Fort Lauderdale crossing on HAL's Maasdam. Weather fine until the Azores - then very stormy Atlantic (dying hurricane spinning itself out). We were on Main deck forward - ship took on water through hawsepipe (anchor chainway), and some dozen or so cabins flooded to depth of about 6 inches. Luckily there were other cabins to which we could be moved. I wouldn't let chance of bad weather deter you - trans-Atlantics (and trans-Pacifics) can be a very relaxing time - love those sea days. Regatta is a nice little ship. We were on her this past August into the Baltic, and were on another sis, Pacific Princess (new) 11-03, Papeete to Sydney. We'll be Nautica this November, Istanbul to Singapore, through the Suez.

peggyann Posted February 19, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2006 We did this one last Nov on the Regatta. We encountered some very rough seas for the first half or so. I heard that some folks had to be moved from their cabins due to some flooding. Dishes were flying, piano fell off its platform in the Horizon Lounge, and the wait staff were working hard to stay on their feet. However, it did calm down for the second half. We loved this cruise anyway! Food was fab as usual, staff outstandingly gracious, friendly and attentive. Nice group of cruisers made the meals pleasant. We enjoy days at sea, and the cruise was relaxing even with the movement. We also attended the daily "beginners bridge" classes which were well taught and we are trying to continue our efforts at home. We would do this again.
