My sister in law booked a February cruise with us with herself her 18yo, 14yo; and 3yo son. She refuses to get vaccinated stating she’s never even received a flu vaccination. My 18 year old nephew is getting vaccinated as she can’t tell him what to do with his body. he still wants to go on the cruise. Can i add another adult to the booking and they keep on the ship and she be a no show? Or does the original person have to be there to check him in as well?

Probably can pay for a name change. Maybe if you say cant meet protocols they can refund and rebook. Some rates cost $50 for a name change.

 

3 year old has to be in a cabin with a adult over age 21. Is he still going? Is the 14 year old getting vaccinated?  Hard to say without all the facts.

my 18 year nephew will be the only one going . His mom and 14 year old brother will not be getting vaccinated and of course the 3 year old can’t get vaccinated

I’m not sure but I don’t think an 18 year old can be in a cabin alone.  There’s an age limit and I think it’s 21 or 22.  That’s something to check out.  Maybe it’s different if his aunt is booked in a nearby cabin?

So 3 of you left? Sorry getting lost. Can you move him into your cabin or a solo inside near you? 

 

It would be easier for a travel agent who know how many are going and rate codes, which can be moved. There has been a issue for 3 in a cabin, cant always be booked.

I think a 18 year old can be alone across or within a  certain number of cabins.

I don’t think an 18 can cruise without someone over 21 but I may be wrong.

yeah i can’t put him in my room. it doesn’t hold four people. his mom paid in full and wasn’t looking to get a refund. she wants him to still be able to go and just stay in their original cabin. i was wondering if i could change the name of the other two kids and keep his mom on and have her as a no show

Many topics have derailed or devolved into arguments.  Cruise Critic understands the passion you all have – we have it too! -- and we are confident that we’ve moderated with a light hand and most discussions have run their course. However, there simply are better places on the web to learn about --  and debate --  scientific, medical and political issues. 
 

The good news is….we now have a great deal to look forward to!  Cruise (and travel) is beginning to open up again and it is  time to refocus on why we are here:  our love of cruise!  So, here are the specifics:

 

• We will NOT welcome debate or opinion about medical, scientific, or political aspects of the pandemic. There are a few often repeated trigger items that won’t be allowed:
  • No statistics about infection rates,
  • no discussions about where the virus may have started,
  • no ranting about individual rights,
  • no commenting about after-effects of vaccinations,  
  • no debate about whether vaccinations or masking are effective,
  • no anti-vaxxer comments of any kind,
  • no discussions about which governor or politician or news personality did or said what.

 

• We will welcome information on COVID policies RELATED TO CRUISE. Things like:
  •  vaccination policies issued by individual cruise lines, venues or destinations,
  •  cleaning or distancing procedures in use, practical tips for cruisers or things they might need to know that are different from ports of call to embarkation ports are all valid topics.
  • official policies issued by cruise line, travel destinations, airlines, etc. regarding requirements for boarding or shore excursions can be shared. This information needs to be on-topic for the specific forum and thread where posted.

 

We understand that you may be passionate in your opinions on this topic and want to discuss or debate them, and appreciate your understanding that there are more appropriate places than the Cruise Critic Community to do that.  If, however, you are here to talk about the most passionate of vacation travel -- cruising -- let's get on with it!
