wingit Posted February 19, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2006 I have found this board to be a great source of information and advice. Very friendly folks here. Thanks to all the contributors. Just returned yesterday from a wonderful cruise so here then is my contribution: Embarkation was a breeze. We got there about 11am and were on the boat by 11:30. White glove escort to our floor. We had room #7068, Deluxe Verandah Suite (Category SA). Beautiful, spacious and nicely appointed. Loads of storage space. Nice verandah with comfortable furniture. The suite really made all the difference for us. Please note that this room is right next to the glass elevator.. There have been discussions on this board regarding the desirability of such a room. We sat on our verandah a lot - the elevator was not an issue at all. Neptune Lounge was a nice amenity. Handy for morning coffee. The concierges, Ester and Marj were friendly and helpful. The afternoon snacks were the same everyday - some variety would have been nice. The service in all areas of the ship was A-1. HAL should be very proud of their employees. Friendly and helpful. Food at the Lido was so-so, but we aren't really big buffet fans. The Vista Dining room was beautiful, great service, good food and nice dining companions. Table #61 was great. My husband liked the Pinnacle more than I did. He likes steaks and that is their speciality. He said they were the best he's ever had. I had halibut, shrimp scampi, and mushroom ravioli, they were all fine. Ports of Call weren't too great. Cabo and Mazatlan we wouldn't get off the boat for again, PV is nice enough. We did not use the Spa or see any of the shows so cannot comment on those. I'll be happy to answer any questions if anyone has any. This is our 2nd cruise and 1st on HAL, we would definitely sail HAL again.
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 19, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2006 So glad that you enjoyed your first HAL cruise. We have noticed that the afternoon tea sandwiches are the same every day. It used to be that we could expect different ones each day.

FlorenceItaly Posted February 21, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 21, 2006 I guess I must have missed it. I so enjoyed hearing about your trip. What did you do in PV? So far, we only have massages scheduled at Krystal Resort and dinner in the evening at a local restaurant. For Mazatlan we are touring with Mazatlan Frank, and in Cabo, our plans are to go to a day resort. Thanks again for sharing :). Marie
wingit Posted February 21, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted February 21, 2006 In all the ports we just mainly just walked around the main square in each town. Actually in Mazatlan we did go on a tour. We went to the old part of town, saw the cathederal, watched the cliff divers and went to the "Gold Zone", which was hardly golden. I'm sure you are better off having specific plans made. For us the joy of the trip was the ship, not the ports - which was what we expected when we booked the cruise. All the best
