Birmingham Cruisers Posted January 1, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 1, 2022 Happy New Year all, A question for anyone on Marina this New Years day from one joining later this month in Santiago (Perhaps) Due to the understandable changes needed for health and safety at this time, is the gym open and also the sauna and steam rooms? I do love some gym time and a relax after my workout. Would hate to be onboard for 50 days and unable to use these facilities. Also what is the general atmosphere? Much evening socialising? All or any replies will be gratefully received. I have posted this message on the role call as well.

Birmingham Cruisers Posted January 1, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted January 1, 2022 Thanks for that. I think that IF the cruise goes ahead there may well be a lot of sea days. we shall all need to work off some of the extra pounds we will inevitably gain from the wonderful food on Oceania

I understand from your other posts that it is mostly business as usual regarding gym etc on current ships. One of the things that might benefit Oceania is size, at least as it pertains to entertainment extravaganzas. Harder to complete employee rolls when you need 20 or 40 to do an act, than when you need 14-20. Guess we'll find out. Can't talk now, got to get packing!

I'll be watching for updates while you are on Riviera next week.

Of course, unsubstantiated. However another 1/4 guest said they had spoken with O and were told the ship was at 38% capacity and that was quite before the weekend's testing. Others have said they counted cabins available and came up with 88% - obviously it must have been quite a bit before the weekend. So all a bunch of rubbish, but if that 38% is anywhere near correct ... Edited January 2, 2022 by AlexCherie

Be happy for the positive effect on the space and crew ratios.
Rare mauibabes Posted January 2, 2022 #13 Share Posted January 2, 2022 Amen and ditto Flatbush, We were on Riviera’s first return to sailing cruise and there were fewer than 400 guests aboard and it was fantastic. Actually we were on the first 4 segments and had the most awesome cruises ever. If the numbers have shrunk to these levels, then the guests that choose to sail will be well distanced and masks will be provided and required. They will have access to the Specialty restaurants at will as we dined in them 9 of 10 nights. We went to the GDR one night because my wife wanted Jacques Chicken for dinner. Have fun and stay safe and enjoy your fabulous Oceania family while on board. They are so appreciative you are sailing with them. Should you choose or have chosen to opt out, that is good too. Everyone gets to make their own decisions. We all make our own choices based on our personal circumstances. Ciao and stay safe and sail well and enjoy.
