Complimentary Casino Credit

I rebooked our Jan 29th cruise to March 5th hoping to outrun the worst of this Omicron wave. In doing so, my TA just advised me today that the rebooking somehow included $300 in casino credit (maybe it's a casino cruise and my pp status triggered the promo...who knows). The credit says it has no cash value and must be used only in the casino. So my question is, what happens if you actually win some money. Over the course of the cruise say your casino account ends up at $600 because of winnings. Are you only able to cash out the winnings at the end of the cruise? I visit the casino regularly on a cruise but have never been gifted credit like this. Thank you.

The free play must be used (or you give it up) during the cruise.  I have had credit that can be used on slots or table games, but I had to make an election.

If you use it for slots, then every dollar you win goes into your account as refundable credits.  If you have $300 in free play and use $250 of it, winning $200, at the end of the cruise, you will be paid $200, and you will have given up $50.  So you are best off playing it all.

For table free play, the cashier will give you $300 in free play chips.  When you put down a free play chip, if you win the bet, the dealer will take away your free play chip and pay you off with one equal value real chip; if you lose the bet, the dealer will take away your free play chip.  This is not fair, but it is how free play chips work.  One casino I was in did not take away your free play chip and allowed you to keep playing it, just like real money; but that is not the Princess way.

I think you can cash out your casino account whenever you like (any unused free play will remain in the account), but I always wait to the last night.

As stated above, it's free play and in creating the booking this new offer was probably picked up.  Be sure to use up the whole amount which means play it all.  And any winnings from what you've played are yours to keep assuming you don't keep playing (which is what they count on!).

We just sailed Ruby Princess and played blackjack. We were given free play chips and could use them exactly like regular chips. When we won we kept the free play chips and were paid in regular chips. I hope this is the norm as the other way dilutes the benefit greatly.

Yah!  The "other way" is almost like a push with free money - at least you get the bet amount ...

Can you pull back the free play chip and use a regular one for the next bet - or do you have to leave it out once played?

We were able to pull it back after a win and use the regular chip for the next bet. You could also mix free play and regular chips. When you win, you were paid with regular chips. On New Years Eve they had giveaways several times and we won $275 in free play so had a lot of fun with the casino’s money.

Hope this holds!  2 years ago on the Royal the free play chip was taken as described in "the other way", while my bitter complaints were ignored.  On the whole, most casinos take "lucky bucks" away after a win - but you had to also play a real chip - e.g. you'd get $10 for a $5 real bet..

Your account will allow you to choose to use either your Free Play or what you have banked.  If you play $100 for instance and win $150 when you cash out you can opt to bank it then if you wish or you can go to the cashier and take out the cash.  The nice part is you will always know how much FP you have left to use.

Just don't forget to cash out all winnings on the last night.
