tips for the mardi gras:

embarkation day offers on-site covid testing for $100/per, inside of check-in area, if your results don't come in on time for whatever reason.

on 1st 2 nights, rudi's and steakhouse both offer 50% off any bottle of wine.

last 2 sea days, bolt roller coaster fills up. go early if you're interested.

closed toe shoes required for bolt and ropes course (can't miss mini zip line, and walk the plank).

earn 1500 pts in the casino, for comped drinks from server (can't get directly from casino bar).

deck 17 spa cabins have direct/separate elevator access to spa on deck 5.

street eats menu changes daily, but it may be closed on port days or limited hours.

don't sleep on the shawarma and seadogs stations inside lido buffet.

my favorite vantage point for center stage, is from deck 7.

family feud is a great addition to the entertainment lineup.

what is shawarma?

I noticed that on the eating times each night, there is no mention of YTD.  It has Early at 5:30 and Late at 7:45.  Does YTD start at 5:30 as well?  On most ships it has started earlier than Early dining. Just curious if that is the case here as well.  Also, I'm not seeing prices on some of the specialty restaurants, like Cucina.  Are these still included on the Mardi Gras as there were last fall?

cucina is complimentary.

YTD starts at Flamingo dining room at same time.

Well, maybe the Flamingo.  It varies on each sailing.

I didn't know either.  😄

If you've ever had a gyro with that type of carved/shaved meat, shawarma is very similar.  I thought it might be spicy.  It wasn't.  I thought it might be bad.  I was wrong; it was great!

I'd like to thank the Mardi Gras for expanding my culinary knowledge.  Much obliged!  🙂

I've been eating them for over 40 years, since my brother took me to Shalom (RIP) on the edge of OSU campus. Firdous and Pita Hut are a couple places here that serve this Middle Eastern staple. The price has gone up over the years but I've always considered it an excellent value for a great sandwich. I think it's great that Carnival has brought this option to Mardi Gras as I've always tried to convert the uninitiated.
